Complete Flush Fit 1911 Double Stack Style Magazine Guide
Pick your favorite term - 2011, 2011 style, hi-cap 1911, or 1911 DS. As the cost of entry goes down and more shooters become able to buy and become aware of the capabilities of this remarkable platform. The demographics of ownership have shifted from pure competition to the broader market. Of course, with new uses come new needs. The first new need we noticed was a demand for reliable lock-back mags, which we solved in 2021. Today it is all about the flush fit magazine.
The first thing to deal with in the flush v. no flush conversations is mechanical. Some mag lengths and base pads will not work in certain magwells and grips. A good rule of thumb is that 140mm magazines and larger with a premium base pad will fit in any 1911 DS on the market 140mm magazines with standard (limiting) base pads, and smaller is where the trouble begins and where the flush fit shows up.
